Detailed guide

Legal framework for umbrella company in Morocco

Umbrella company in Morocco lets an independent consultant practise under employee status of an umbrella firm. WEEPO invoices the client, collects payments, and pays the consultant a salary.

The arrangement rests on an employment contract between the consultant and WEEPO, coupled with a mission agreement with the end client. CNSS contributions are paid by WEEPO as employer.

The exact legal framework for umbrella company in Morocco is subject to ongoing validation by our legal counsel. Information presented may evolve.

Who is umbrella company for?

Consultants and freelancers whose revenue exceeds or approaches the self-employed cap.

Moroccan talent working for foreign clients remotely or on short missions.

Profiles wanting employee social protection without creating or managing a company.

How much does umbrella company cost in Morocco?

For a figure based on your monthly revenue, see our Morocco umbrella pricing or ask an advisor for a simulation.

Umbrella cost is read from the revenue you invoice to your clients. Three items are deducted before reaching your net salary:

  • WEEPO management fee: generally 5–10% of invoiced revenue, depending on volume.
  • Employer charges: 21.09% on the first MAD 6,000 of gross salary, then 12.11% above (CNSS, AMO, family allowances, vocational training tax).
  • Employee contributions and income tax: 6.74% on the first MAD 6,000 of gross, then 2.26% AMO above, plus progressive income tax (0–37%) withheld at source.

Timeline: how long does it take to start?

Allow 1–2 weeks on average between your first call with WEEPO and actually starting under umbrella.

Your first salary is paid after the first client invoice is collected, so your client's payment terms directly affect the date of your first payslip.

  • Call with an advisor and net salary simulation.
  • Signature of the employment contract and the mission agreement with your client.
  • CNSS affiliation and first invoice issued by WEEPO.
  • Collection, then salary payment with payslip.

Umbrella company or Employer of Record: what is the difference?

Both models rely on a Moroccan employment contract with WEEPO, but they serve different parties.

If you are a company looking to hire in Morocco without a subsidiary, see our Employer of Record Morocco page.

  • Umbrella company (portage salarial): the consultant finds clients, negotiates the day rate and chooses missions. WEEPO invoices the client and turns revenue into salary.
  • Employer of Record (EOR): the client company hires and manages the employee day to day. WEEPO is the legal employer and handles contract, payroll and CNSS; the company pays employment cost plus a service fee.
  • In short: umbrella starts from the freelancer, EOR starts from the employer.
